Toshihito Tsushima （the firefly clan) BIO:

Songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist, Toshi a.k.a “the firefly clan” grew up in Romania, United States, Hungary, England, and Japan. From 1994, Toshi attended GIT, Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California. After graduating GIT, Toshi started pursuing a style of music fusing blues-inspired guitar, world-beat percussions, minimalist electronic beats and analog recording equipment under the name "the firefly clan". Returning to Japan in 1997, he traveled to India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and in Morrocco, he met up with the Gnawa musicians and was heavily influenced by their music, culture, and the Guimbri lute that he acquired from the renowned Hassan Zoughari of Marrakech. In 2010, he has released a double-album collection of "the firefly clan" recordings from 1996 to 2010, "Sun and Rain" and "Nothing, Everything" on iTunes, compiled and mastered by musician Toshiyuki Yasuda, representative of Megadolly Label. As one of the few Gnawa players in Japan he appeared on the last broadcast of Tamori's TV show "Yoru-Tamori". Currently he resides in Okinawa.

シンガーソングライター、マルチミュージシャン津嶋としひと（the firefly clan) は東欧、アメリカ、イギリス、日本などで育つ。1994年にアメリカ西海岸にあるGITへ音楽留学。 GIT卒業後は the firefly clan（ファイヤフライクラン）という名義でブルース的なギター、エスニックな打楽器、ミニマルなドラムマシン、アナログ録音などを基調とした独自の音楽スタイルを追求し始める。 帰国後の1997年以降は、インド、バングラデシュ、バリ島など世界各地を旅する中モロッコで出会ったグナワ音楽に深く傾倒し、その文化をはじめマラケシュの著名な師匠であるHassan Zoughari から譲り受けたギンブリ（ベース三味線とでもいうべき楽器）の虜になる。 2010年10月からは、1996～2010年の作品を安田寿之が選曲／マスタリングした2枚のアルバム「Sun and Rain」,「Nothing, Everything」をiTunes Storeで発売中。数少ない日本人グナワ奏者として「ヨルタモリ」最終回の世界音楽旅行にタモリさんと共演。現在は沖縄在住。
